Medical Tourist Vacations is a subsidiary of Posh Journeys owned by Jack and Helga van Horn who have been specializing in upscale tours since 1987. 

Our philosophy is to offer not just Medical Packages, but specially designed Medical Vacations. Medical travel differs in many ways from ordinary tourist travel. Much thought has to go into the recreational aspect medical travel. The traveler is, after all, a patient who is undergoing more or less complicated surgery. This is a huge aspect that has to be taken into consideration when a medical tour package is designed. We have heard night mare accounts from patients who have been sent on marathon sightseeing drives while undergoing surgery abroad. This is often due to itineraries set up by amateur operators who may have good connections to overseas hospitals, but have no experience in the design of a tour, or the sightseeing excursions are left up to an overseas travel agency with no particular training in setting up sightseeing for a medical patient. Careful planning is necessary to make a patients vacation experience relaxing and totally enjoyable which will add much to the patient's recovery.

Of course, we are fully aware that first and foremost is a patient's medical experience. Together with our Indian partner Mrs.Shashi Wankede of MedAccess India, a professional manage company, we offer only the best doctors and medical facilities. We have personally interviewed all doctors and have chosen the most experienced for our patients. We don't let the hospitals assign whatever doctor happens to be available when a patient arrives. All these considerations went into the design of our medical packages. Our Medical Tourist Vacations are quite unlike any others. We include not only lodging and the medical procedure, but much more. A patient will be taken care of from the moment he arrives until he bids his Indian Host Consultant good bye at the airport.

Although a patient will buy an upscale medical package from us, he will not pay more than he would for a more ordinary medical package. We do not lump everything together. The patient pays the doctors directly and he may do his own air fare thus being able to select the most convenient flights, or he may opt to use his frequent flyer miles. It makes no sense that a patient should fly in the round-about only because a medical agency has a contract with a certain airline for certain flights.
